About Resource Management Inc.
Who We Are
Resource Management Inc. (RMI) is a management consulting firm dedicated to the development and implementation of Business Performance Improvement programs (BPI). Each program is custom designed to meet the individual competitive needs of our clients, in virtually every industry, facing challenges from turnarounds to maintaining the industry lead.
Unlike consulting firms who deliver only recommendations, RMI's implementation approach provides dramatic, long term, bottom line results. Our professionals work in concert with client organizations, bringing focus and expertise, enhancing their responsiveness to current and future market demands. Objectivity and dedication to the client enterprise as a whole, breaks down functional barriers and aligns the organization towards a common goal.
Since 1991, RMI has successfully completed more than 30 projects with an average return on investment exceeding 3 to 1. Client extensions and referrals account for 75% of our business, reflecting the true measure of the quality of our services.
What We Do
While the BPI process has demonstrated its effectiveness in virtually every industry, each company's needs differ based on their market, core competencies and available tools.
Our first objective is to evaluate a company's competitive posture. Utilizing industrial data bases, we have developed a unique tool called the Competitive Analysis Model, which allows us to evaluate a company's performance against their industrial peers. The model targets potential improvement areas, which are performing below industry norms.
The model is then supported by the Business Evaluation process, where short comings and breakdowns in the current processes, systems and disciplines are identified, which result in deteriorated performance.
The source of these issues are then evaluated for their recovery potential and financial impact. A comprehensive improvement plan is constructed and consolidated into a definitive proposal which is presented for approval.
Typically, the Competitive Analysis Model and Business Evaluation steps are conducted at no cost to the client. This is RMI's way of demonstrating our commitment to our clients, by assuming the upfront risk in developing a working relationship. We only ask our clients be serious about achieving dramatic improvements and be prepared to move forward with the implementation phase of the program, if, and only if the results and our competence justify it.
Implementation Approach
The implementation phase of the program is comprised of two major factors:
The Competitive Posture of a company, drives the need for change and the role RMI will play in helping an organization achieve their goals. Evaluating the degree of change and its required timing, compared to the availability and skill level of the organizational resources, will dictate the most appropriate approach - from project management, coaching and training to hands on implementation.
Implementation Approach
The Enterprise Progression Chart below, illustrates how the competitive posture will influence the need for change, and RMI's role in the program's implementation.

The mechanical deficiencies uncovered during the Business Evaluation determine the specific tasks to be accomplished during the implementation phase. Although tasks will differ based on our findings, there are some steps common to most programs.
Process Mapping and System Flows are conducted at grass root levels for each scope area. These steps generate Value Added, Work Flow Simplification, Best Practice and Communication opportunities. Activity Element Analysis provides the foundation for Standard Operating Practices, Methods Improvement, Capability Determination and establishes a framework for ISO & QS Certification.
Implementation Approach
Internal Bench marking and Progress Measurement Tools are developed to assess improvement progress as each opportunity is evaluated and addressed.
"To Be Models" are jointly developed for both Processes and Systems to provide a Road map for the future. Group and individual "one on one" training supports the implementation process, insuring that optimum utilization of the tools, processes and procedures are perpetuated.
Operating Manuals document processes, procedures and developed tools, to act as a reference and provide future training as required. The bottom line results are dramatic, long term improvement and a solid foundation for Continuous Improvement.
